About The Shearer's Retreat
The Shearer's Retreat is on a working farm just four miles from Llandeilo. Here we have over 100 areas of farm and woodland which we share with our sheep, dogs, cats, a pony called Max and some cattle.
In the spring there are bluebells in the woods and spring flowers in the hedgerows and lambs in the fields. Summer brings the swallows and small fish in the river. Autumn sets alight the countryside views as the leaves change colour. The cold fresh air of winter makes snuggling up by the wood burner more enticing.
The first International Dark-Sky reserve in Wales is situated in the Brecon Beacons, and on a clear night the sky is spectacular.
The Musterer's Hut
The Musterer's Hut, new for 2024, is the larger hut. It has an extra long double bed, en-suite shower and toilet, gas hob, fridge, dining area and soft seating inside. Outside there is a double ended bath, BBQ table and seperate firepit area. Guests can park at the hut.

The Shearer's hut has a comfy double bed, en-suite shower and toilet, wood burner stove inside, and outside there is a covered cooking facilities, seating areas and wonderful views over the Towy Valley. Parking is behind the hut.
Access to nature
The holistic farming methods practiced at PenHill have created a nature friendly enviroment. The farm is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, guests can sit and relax watching the acrobatics of the red kites known on farm as Kath and Keith, or wonder through the fields down to the river.

The Shearer's Retreat is ideal placed to enjoy the many delights of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, The Gower peninsular, and the Breacon Beacons.

Spectacular Skies
The Shearers Retreat is set on the edge of the Dark Sky Reserve. On a clear night the stars are amazing, but whatever the weather, the view is impressive. Guests can watch the clouds drift gently, or rolling purposely by. Or the morning mist fill the valley, like a lake the distant hills appearing like islands.
